Memories that feel emotive organic honest carefree

the Philosophy

I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of memory — the way we rewatch our most precious moments in our minds as an art-viewer of sorts. I love how memories are messily wrapped up in tactile objects, familiar smells, and physical spaces.

That warm bittersweet feeling of nostalgia when moments have passed and we’re left with just the essence, an imprint, an emotion-soaked stain.

After your day is done and the memories are made, photography can preserve these moments. They’re snapshots in time that hold the magic to take us back.

That’s what I’m thinking about when I’m photographing you: How can I preserve these honest moments and feelings in a beautiful and artful way? How can I make sure that these moments aren’t tucked away in a box, but rather, are framed on walls and countertops?

These are more than just photos. These are your memories — soaked in warm nostalgia, dripping with feeling, gilded with the delicate intricacies of your story.

Let’s honor your memories together.

the Approach

Intentional

It’s so important that I achieve a balance of honesty and creativity when I photograph you. I’m documenting what’s real, but in an artful and intentional way. I want these photographs to feel like your true memories, but as works of art.

Real + Intimate

I want you to feel comfortable during our time together, and I want your photos to feel like you. I’ll direct you, but I’ll observe you and look for opportunities to bring out your personality to create a genuine (and fun) experience.

Unconventional

The best photos are going to come from an organic place, and our time together can be out-of-the-box. Want to take me along in your backseat and go on a roadtrip? Have a picnic in the middle of the desert? Trash your wedding attire in the ocean? I’m in.

Documentary

I want you to be fully present on your wedding day. I’m not the type of photographer to fake a moment for the sake of a “perfect” photograph. I want to capture the real stuff — the good stuff — as it truly unfolds.

FIlm and Super 8

Film Photography

Inour digital world, where everything is instant, film is a labor of love that stands the test of time. Are you relying on technology alone to preserve your memories?  Your film negatives can always be scanned again but nothing can bring back digital files that are lost forever. With film, you can actually hold your memories in your hands and preserve them to be passed down for future generations to discover. Plus, there’s something magical about film that can’t be replicated, and it always adds a special touch to your gallery.

Super 8 Videography

Super 8 Film is an earlier form of analog motion capture film. There’s a natural sense of nostalgia with Super 8 film, and feels like your memories do — warm, hazy, romantic, magical, dreamy. In my opinion, it’s the truest representation of how it felt in the moment. With no sound and no major editing, its honest and carefree vibe offers the perfect alternative for those who don’t resonate with the epic “big production” feel of some modern videography. See below for examples of my recent Super 8 work.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When I edit my photos, I lean more true-to-life, with a touch of film emulation. I always honor the real colors of skin, landscape, and foliage while matching tones with film stocks that have been around since before digital photography. To me, this combo makes your images timeless with a touch of nostalgia.

  • Yes! I absolutely love traveling and exploring new places. Whether you want to go on a roadtrip adventure together for your engagements, or do a destination elopement, I'm there.

  • For portrait, branding, and couples sessions: you’ll receive your photos back within 2-3 weeks. For weddings, you’ll receive your gallery in 8-10 weeks. Don’t worry, though, I’ll send sneak peeks of your wedding while you wait for your gallery!

  • I don't have a “max” amount of photos that I edit and include in the gallery — I include everything that meets my standards and tells the story of your day. Typically for couples, engagements, and portrait sessions you'll receive 50-150 fully edited photos. For elopements and weddings, depending on the coverage time, you can expect anywhere from 400-900 photos.

  • I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years, and I’ve been shooting professionally for 5 years.

  • Since my approach is primarily documentary, I typically don’t need a shot list outside of a family photo list. Though, I will ask you about what’s important to you to be captured to make sure I’m telling the story of your day in the way you’d like to remember it by. I’m also happy to take a peek at your mood board if you have one! We can chat about what you love about the images on your board, and how I might be able to incorporate similar feelings + vibes.

  • Trust me, you’re definitely not the only one who feels like that! I’d say more than half my clients tell me something along those lines before our time together. But don’t worry, I have your back! My job is to make you comfortable, give you prompts and direction, and make it feel as natural as possible by keeping you moving and interacting. You’ll end up having so much fun, I promise.

  • I require a 30% deposit to hold your date, and the remainder of your payment is due a week before your date. I offer payment plans if you’d like to split up your final payment into multiple payments leading up to your date.
